Nasser Bakhti

Born in Algiers in 1960, Producer-Director Nasser Bakhti has been active in the audio-visual world since 1987. A graduate of the Mountainview Art and Drama School of London, he collaborated with Channel 4 and the BBC, as production assistant and production director, on documentary films. In 1990, he founded with Béatrice Bakhti the production company Troubadour Films, which was later transferred to Geneva. Upon arriving in Geneva, he directs and produces a film on war disasters in former Yougoslavia, In the heart iof darkness and a documentary on Geneva as a melting-pot of cultures: Geneva, Mirror of the World (1996). Concurrently with activities as producer and director, he wrote about one hundred short plays for the TV program Pas de Problèmes of Télévision Suisse Romande.

In 1995, he decides to devote his activities entirely to writing, directing and producing films within the framework of his company, In 1999 he directs his first fiction film The Silence of Fear, which won the “Prix du Cœur” at the Cannes Junior Film Festival. His last fiction, Night Shadows (2006) earned prizes at numerous international film festivals. As a producer, Nasser is committed to support a number of young film directors. He works in close collaboration with them, from development to distribution. Recognized beyond Swiss borders, his production company occupies today a central position within the Western Swiss film landscape.
